How to Choose the Perfect Pair of Caribbean Sun Sunglasses for You

How to Choose the Perfect Pair of Caribbean Sun Sunglasses for You

Are you looking for the perfect pair of Caribbean Sun sunglasses but need some help? We’ve put together a complete guide to help you find the perfect pair made for you! We’ll address face shapes, frame materials, and additional adjustments that can be made to your sunglasses, so you get the perfect fit!

Let’s Determine Your Face Shape!

There are several factors to consider when looking for the perfect fit; one of the most important is to know your face shape and what frame shapes are best suited for it. Our guide is merely a suggestion to help guide you along, but we always say stick with your instinct and what’s most comfortable for you.

The most common face shapes are…

  • Oval
  • Square
  • Round
  • Heart
  • Diamond

To determine your face shape, all you have to do is take a glance in a mirror at your facial features. The most telling feature of your face shape is your jawline. Ask yourself, is it more rounded? Narrow? Or is it pointed?

Oval Faces

People with oval faces can easily wear most frame shapes. A face with an oval shape features higher and wider cheekbones that are slightly narrower towards the forehead. This long, rounded face shape allows you to pull off almost any style — especially oversized and wide frames.

Square Faces

Many kinds of glasses shapes suit square faces. After all, it's hip to be square! If you have a square-shaped face, many great pairs of eyeglasses can flatter your features. Square faces often have bold, angular features and cut a clean, straight line from the forehead to the jaw.

When it comes to proportion, square faces are the widest along the jaw and forehead. Due to this shape being defined by a strong jawline, glasses that sit high on the nose add length that flatters this type of face.

Round Faces

Round faces feature soft curves and smooth lines, with a face roughly the same width from the jaw up to the brow. The cheeks are usually full with round faces, and the chin is rounded with very few angles. Unlike some other face shapes, a round face is often very distinguished because it’s all about the curves.

The most important thing to consider when choosing glasses for round face shapes is to select frames that work to add angles — try styles with bold, angular details and clean lines.

Heart-Shaped Faces

Many glasses will flatter a heart-shaped face. With a narrow chin and high cheekbones, heart-shaped faces are widest at the forehead and taper to small, pointy chins. Try oval, round or square-shaped frames with light colors like brown or green.

Diamond-Shaped Faces?

Diamond-shaped faces are rare and have a full, wide jawline, a narrow forehead, and defined cheekbones. Eyeglasses frames that suit diamond-shaped faces can be found by balancing features with the shape of eyeglasses.

Try to look for frames with thick bridge and nose pads to help balance your face shape. You should also avoid narrow points on the frames, such as those that are pointy or rounded at the ends. Pointed frames will make your face wider, while rounded ones will make it appear longer, so avoid both if you want to balance your face shape and find the perfect fit.

Sunglass Frame Materials

Not all frame material is created equal. While many people prefer plastic frames because they're light and comfortable to wear for long periods, others prefer metal or other hard materials so that their sunglasses will last longer. It's essential to consider the type of activity you'll be doing while wearing your Caribbean Sun sunglasses.

If you plan on engaging in many outdoor activities like swimming or running on a beach, a metal frame might be best because it can't break as easily as plastic. On the other hand, if you're going on a more low-key vacation where your most active activities will be walking around town or lounging by the pool, plastic is the way to go since there's less chance of breaking or damaging them.

Metal Sunglass Frames

It is the most popular material for Caribbean Sun sunglasses as it allows us to create various shapes, colors, and styles for our collection. All metal Caribbean Sun sunglasses are made with hypo-allergenic nickel alloy metal, which won’t cause irritation from daily use.

Metal frames are suitable for just about any activity or lifestyle. Metal sunglass frames also offer the ability to adjust the temple tips, which are made from acetate.

Acetate Temple Tips Frames

Using acetate material on our Caribbean Sun temple tip (metal sunglass frames) allows us to select from a large range of colors to enhance the look of our sunglasses. Acetate is a flexible material, so you can get a more custom fit. If your sunglasses need adjustments, we recommend taking them to your local optician for a more personalized fit.

Plastic Sunglass Frames

Lightweight and comfortable, the ideal solution for an active lifestyle. Our Caribbean Sun plastic sunglasses are made from Swiss-made EMS Grilamid, AKA TR-90. TR-90 is known for its durability, strength, and lightweight feel.

This material allows us to create the styles you are looking for while using our polarized glass sunglass lens. While this material is flexible to some extent, our polarized glass lenses are not. Therefore, it’s essential to remember that our plastic frames will fit a little snugger due to the glass lenses' inability to flex within the sunglass frame.

Custom Adjustments

While we do pride ourselves on making sure our Caribbean Sun sunglasses are a perfect fit, we allow for some additional adjustments which can be made to make them even better!

Adjustments on Metal Frames with Acetate Temple Tips

One of the easiest adjustments that can be made to your Caribbean Sun sunglasses is to make sure the temple tips (the little piece that goes behind your ear) are bent correctly to fit your ear. Now, I know you probably think you can bend it yourself but don’t! We recommend taking them to your local optician to allow them to help you. They will ensure the material is bent correctly not to damage your Caribbean Sun sunglasses.

Adjustments to Metal Frames with Nose Pads

Ever feel like there is too much pressure on your nose, that is! Adjusting your sunglass nose pads to fit perfectly is one of the quickest adjustments! Please note that while nose pads are meant to be adjusted for a personal fit, please move them around gently. Again, if you do not feel comfortable making adjustments to your nose pads, we suggest taking them to a local optician for expert help.
